fall grasslands
oil on panel 9"x10"

This is the one I said I wouldn't post. But it's what I worked on today, and after all it's not about showing off. Back to pastels tomorrow.

  1. I love both of your oil painted skies. I think this is really nice. Do you have lots of reference photos? I would have a hard time coming up with so many beautiful ideas for a painting a day.

  2. Jean, Trust your first intuition. I thought of you today when I looked at landscapes by Bill Cone, http://billcone.blogspot.com/. His pastel stuff is pretty incredible, and he says it's all done on Canson paper.

  3. Thank you all.
I don't have a lot of reference photos, but I do try to carry my little canon G9 when I know I might see something good. Somehow doing a painting nearly every day makes it easier for me to settle on an idea. There's less pressure to find the perfect subject, and it forces me to see beautiful possibilities in more places.
Bob, you're right, Bill's work is incredible. I'm so impressed with his rocks and I'm amazed that it's all done on Canson.

  4. I'm not sure why you didn't want to post this one? I agree with Jala, it really is lovely. It's serene...
